Hi, I’m Amy Egle, and I’m the proud owner and director of Juniperhaven Preschool in Bend, Oregon. I’ve had a passion for working with children for as long as I can remember. Growing up, I idolized my teachers. They were kind, inspiring, and full of heart and I knew early on that I wanted to follow in their footsteps.
I earned my degree in education and became a middle school Language Arts teacher. It was a career I loved, but after having my first daughter, I made the choice to stay home with her for a while. When she turned one, I took a part-time job at a childcare center, thinking it would be a temporary step. To my surprise, I fell in love with early childhood education. There was something truly special about those early years, the wonder, the growth, the relationships. It lit a spark in me that hasn’t gone out since.
After working in several centers and in-home programs, I decided to open my own certified in-home childcare in 2014. With the support of a small team, I cared for 12 to 16 children a day, watching many of them grow from infancy to preschool. I truly loved every moment.
When the pandemic hit, the childcare crisis deepened in our community. I knew it was time to expand. In 2021, I opened Juniperhaven Preschool as a certified center, right here in Bend. My goal was to create a safe, warm, and joyful place where children could learn through play, feel seen and supported, and develop strong foundations for life.
Our preschool is rooted in the belief that play is not just important, it’s essential. In 2014, I saw Bev Bos speak at a conference here in Bend, and her message changed me. She reminded us that play isn’t a luxury; it’s a child’s right. That message has guided my approach ever since.
Juniperhaven Preschool is a licensed certified center through Oregon’s Department of Early Learning and Care (DELC). Our teachers are background-checked, CPR certified, and trained in all required health and safety protocols. We prioritize low turnover and have a team of experienced educators who were chosen for their passion, skill, and dedication to early childhood education. We’re also proud to be a family-run program, my daughter, my mom, and my aunt all work here alongside me.
Our teachers are trained to support and guide children’s play in ways that foster deep learning. Whether it’s building towers in the block center or pretending to run a restaurant in dramatic play, we understand that each activity is a building block for future academic and social success. And in our Pre-K program, we blend play-based exploration with a structured kindergarten readiness curriculum to ensure that children leave Juniperhaven confident and prepared.
I love what I do. I love greeting the kids each morning, working alongside my amazing team, and getting to know every family that walks through our doors. My hope is that when you walk into Juniperhaven, you feel the same joy, purpose, and connection that we do every day.
If you have any questions about our preschool or want to see if we’re the right fit for your family, I’d love to hear from you.
Amy Egle, Owner & Director, Juniperhaven Preschool
At Juniperhaven, we take a blended approach to early childhood education, one that balances play-based exploration with intentional teaching strategies that support school readiness. Our program is designed to meet each child where they are, honoring their unique personality, learning style, and pace. We believe in the power of play, the importance of connection, and the lasting impact of nurturing relationships. Our days are filled with wonder, movement, creativity, and heart, because childhood isn’t one-size-fits-all, and neither is the way we teach.
We believe that relationships are the foundation of all learning. Trust, empathy, and authentic connection guide everything we do, with children, families, and each other.
We honor the power of play as the most natural and effective way for young children to learn. Through curiosity, wonder, and exploration, we spark meaningful growth every day.
We nurture the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development of each child, supporting who they are today and who they’re becoming.
Our classrooms are inclusive, welcoming, and deeply rooted in community. Every child and family is seen, valued, and celebrated for who they are.
We bring purpose to every moment. With thoughtful planning, responsive teaching, and flexible structure, we support both individual growth and school readiness.
We’re here for the long haul. We build strong, lasting bonds with families that extend beyond the preschool years because we know the early years echo for a lifetime.
