Developmentally Ready Young Toddler Care

Care for children ages 1 – 2 years

Our One’s Room welcomes children who are ready to begin their journey into toddlerhood. Most children move into this room around their first birthday, or the September after they turn one, depending on developmental readiness and classroom availability.

This room supports your child’s shift from baby routines to the early structure of group care. With a 1:4 teacher-to-child ratio (maximum of 8 children), your little one receives the attention, safety, and love they need while beginning to explore their independence.

Full-time: $1850/month

3 Days/Week: $1250/month

2 Days/Week: $895/month

A Consistent Routine That Supports Growth

Toddlers thrive with consistency. In the One’s Room, we introduce a predictable rhythm while remaining responsive to individual needs. One of the biggest transitions at this stage is moving from two naps to one. We support this gradually and gently, always guided by your child’s cues and comfort.

Our daily routine includes:

Two outdoor playtimes each day (weather permitting)
Shared meals and snacks
Group activities balanced with free play
A transition to one nap per day as developmentally appropriate

This routine builds emotional security, supports physical development, and gives toddlers the space to explore within a safe structure.

Play-Based Learning Designed for Toddlers

At Juniperhaven, play is the foundation of everything we do. Our One’s Room is thoughtfully arranged with open-ended materials and inviting learning areas, including:

A cozy reading corner
A dramatic play station
Low, accessible shelves with rotating sensory and fine-motor toys

We use toys and materials designed specifically for this age group, including trusted brands like Lovevery®, to support cognitive growth, gross and fine motor development, and language acquisition through play.

Gentle Guidance Through Conscious Discipline

Toddlers are learning how to be in the world, how to share, express themselves, and handle big emotions. We use Conscious Discipline to guide behavior in ways that are connection-based, respectful, and developmentally appropriate.
In the One’s Room, this looks like:

Modeling calm responses and naming emotions (“You’re mad because you wanted that toy. Let’s take a breath.”)
Offering safe, gentle redirection
Co-regulating with children when they’re overwhelmed
Creating rituals and routines that help toddlers feel secure and seen

Daily Updates Through the Lillio App

We know you want to know how your little one’s day is going. That’s why we share real-time updates for children under 2 using the Lillio app. You’ll receive:

Nap durations
Meals and snacks
Diaper changes
Observations and sweet moments from their day

Supporting Emerging Communication

As toddlers begin speaking, we reinforce their efforts by modeling language and using American Sign Language (ASL) to support communication and reduce frustration. Simple signs like “more,” “please,” and “help” give young children confidence in expressing their needs before verbal skills are fully developed.

What to Bring for Your One-Year-Old

To help us support your toddler, please provide:

A week’s worth of diapers
Wipes and diaper ointment (labeled)
Two full changes of clothes, labeled
Water bottle and blanket for nap
Clothing appropriate for outdoor play (including hats, boots, or sunhats)

We’ll communicate with you about any supplies that need replenishing.
